STABLE MOMENTS

Our Stable Moments  program is designed to serve children in the foster and adoptive care system. Most, if not all of these children have suffered trauma, abuse, and neglect. Young people who have experienced such abuse often become distrustful of people.

Each child has an individualized plan of care that highlights their strengths and challenges. The program outlines goals to keep the mentor on track and directed during sessions. The model uses structured EAL activities to develop life skills such as:

  • Emotional Awareness
  • Self-Regulation
  • Anger Management
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Self-Esteem
  • Responsibility

Stable Moments uses daily activity logs and progress summaries to ensure plan-of-care goals are being met and to collect qualitative data.
Participants in this program meet weekly and receive one hour of equine assisted learning.  Each child is given their very own horse grooming kit and personalized with their name.

After the equine activity portion of the session, students transition to arts and crafts, music activities and even reading to the horses. A charm reward system is a unique part of the program children can earn when they master life skills!
