At Harmony Hope Stables, our commitment is to create a positive vibe that is uplifting and provides a therapeutic environment on our farm for all visitors. Our team includes certified equine professionals, licensed therapists, and mental health interns who work diligently to motivate and empower all participants, nurturing the growth of their innate leadership qualities. We offer the Vibe equine leadership program year-round for high school students and conduct half-day leadership retreats for adult groups seeking to enhance their workplace leadership skills.

For Middle and High School Students

Our equine assisted leadership program, Vibe, is ideal for middle and high school students aged 13 and up who may be facing challenges like social anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, negative thoughts, suicidal attempts, and who are considered at-risk. Vibe also offers a great opportunity for any high school student looking to accumulate volunteer and community service hours and develop leadership skills. Through horse- based activities, teens gain confidence, build trust, and form healthier boundaries. Moreover, learning how to work with and take care of a horse helps students practice empathy, and develop authentic connections. To enhance our equine leadership program at HHS, we incorporate a drug and alcohol awareness curriculum as a key component. Students gain insight into the adverse effects of drugs and alcohol on the brain, as well as the consequences of their usage.

How can HORSES teach LEADERSHIP SKILLS?

Horses are prey animals and have a herd mentality. The herd leader is the strongest member, known as the alpha. Horses are highly sensitive to the emotions of the person handling them. They are our mirrors; equines can perceive our feelings and thoughts and reflect them immediately in their body language.

If you want to build a trusting relationship with a horse, he will need to feel safe and you will need to learn how to communicate in his non-verbal world. This requires patience and self awareness. Once you develop the skills needed to reach this goal, the horse will follow you just like he follows the alpha in his herd and you will gain valuable leadership skills to carry with you for the rest of your life.
